Michael Moore – Beadle County State’s Attorney

 

Michael Moore is a 1991 graduate of Ohio Dominican College with a BA in History, and a 1994 graduate of The University of South Dakota School Of Law. He has been a prosecutor with the Beadle County State’s Attorneys Office in Huron, South Dakota since 1994, where he started as a Deputy State’s Attorney. He was elected to the State’s Attorney position in 1996. He prosecutes felony, misdemeanors and juvenile crime in Beadle County the office also assists law enforcement in the investigation of crimes in Beadle County. Mr. Moore also handles all civil matters for Beadle County. Mr. Moore has created prosecution policies and drafted legislation and has applied for and administered federal grant funds to prosecute violent crimes against women and maintain juvenile accountability programs.

Mr. Moore has trained law enforcement, prosecutors and advocates concerning domestic violence and sexual assault working with the South Dakota Network Against Family Violence and Sexual Assault. Mr. Moore has served as a guest lecturer for the South Dakota State’s Attorneys Association and has served as a faculty member for the American Prosecutor Research Institute at the National Advocacy Center in Colombia, South Carolina where prosecutors all over the country are trained. Mr. Moore also served as an Adjunct Professor of Criminal Justice at Huron University. Mr. Moore is a Past President of the South Dakota State’s Attorney’s Association, and currently serves as the SD Ethics Liaison to the NDAA and the NDAA State Director for South Dakota. He is a member of the South Dakota Bar, the National District Attorneys Association and South Dakota State’s Attorneys Association. Mr. Moore lives in Huron with his wife Candace and his daughters Mikena and Adison.
